Check out these great substitutions for healthier baking from DCD’s Chef Mark!

Cupcakes/Cakes: For every ½ stick of butter (2 oz) use 1/3 cup whole milk yogurt! You can also use applesauce as a 1:1 replacement for the butter/oil in these recipes as well! Additionally, use skim or low-fat milk in your recipes in place of whole.

Brownies/Blondies: In a food processor, puree soft or silken tofu, then use it as a 1:1 as a replacement for butter in the recipe. We bet you’ll be hard pressed to notice the difference!

Replace Buttercream with Cream Cheese Frosting: For a delicious cream cheese frosting, blend together one 8-ounce block of cream cheese (softened) with 1 cup of our Buttercream Frosting Mix! To shave off additional fat/calories, substitute ‘reduced fat’ cream cheese for the ‘full fat’ version.
